Director of Public Health
We are delighted that you have registered an interest in the London Borough of Sutton and our career enhancing role of Director of Public Health.
Sutton Council is a very successful and ambitious authority, with much to be proud of and a strong track-record of delivery. We intend to put public health at the forefront of our early intervention and prevention work and ensure it is truly cross-cutting across all council services. We are recruiting for a vital leadership role that will continue the work of the Local Authority and its partners.
This is your opportunity to shape and drive improvement in the health and wellbeing of the residents and communities of Sutton. You will have lead responsibility for promoting and protecting health and wellbeing, tackling health inequalities and improving health care quality. Working across Sutton Council and the NHS, you will address wider key issues in ensuring the health of the population, such as healthy lifestyles, disease control and preventative health services, whilst also ensuring that public health is embedded within community empowerment and engagement which is at the core of everything we do.
We are looking for a transformational and visionary leader, with experience of partnership working and a proven track record on health improvement and reduction of inequalities. You will need to demonstrate high levels of political awareness and be capable of working to different organisational cultures and to plan and implement successful health programmes. You will need to understand the complexities and pressures of local Government and build networks across the whole Council so that public health becomes everyone’s business.
We wish you the very best of luck with your application and hope to meet you soon.
